Research Interests

  • My scholarly activities have focused primarily on three aspects of multicultural issues in higher education; (1) multicultural competencies, (2) multicultural identity development, and (3) the convergence of race and gender on development. My research is theoretical and attempts to provide specific and concrete examples of connecting theory with practice or instructional techniques.

My current research agenda focuses on the erasure of Black women in higher education leadership. My dissertation concentrates explicitly on Dr. Willa Beatrice Player's, the first woman president of Bennett College, career trajectory, and the gap surrounding Black women's appointment to the presidency between the late 1960s to 1980s.
